Education is one of the most significant methods to empower an individual or a community. Offering girls and women education is the easiest way to empower and uplift them, their families as well as society at large. This, access to education, is not a luxury – it is a basic fundamental right enshrined in the Indian constitution as well as a basic human right.
However, in our country, the position is very grim - only one in 3 girls complete their school education age-appropriately and among adults, there are twice as many illiterate women as compared to men.
When a girl is educated, she is empowered. When she is empowered, she makes good decisions for herself, raises the standard of living for her family, generates employment opportunities and leads the charge to reform society.
The Girl child Education and Women empowerment Project (GEWP) focuses on making quality education accessible to girls, especially for those belonging to marginalized communities. We aim to do so by supplementing the formal school systems with the integrated programs run by Vishvodayaa Trust. This includes active engagement with other agencies and the society at large to support the education of every girl child and woman in its truest spirit.
