Give a deprived girl from Bihar a year of education

Kishanganj comes under one of the most underdeveloped rural areas in Bihar. The literacy rate is considerably low with female literacy at 18%. Girls, especially those belonging to the Muslim community, do not attend school mainly because of gender disparity, economic limitations, and poor education and infrastructural facilities at Bihar’s existing schools.

We are working to educate girls from 50 backward villages in Kishanganj. Setting up learning centres in each of these villages, monitoring their operations and training teachers.

We begin by identifying 1,600 rural girls who have never had an education or dropped out, then engage parents to ensure they send their girls to school. Our learning centre teaches girls to read, write and perform calculations over five years, while educational supplies are also provided so that there is no additional burden on their families.

Educating girls can positively transform a society. We have so far taught 1,600 girls in Kishanganj with the intent to reach every other young woman in the area through eduction. A donation of Rs. 2,400 will not only enlighten a girl, but also help to improve the future socio-economic condition of her family and community.
