My name is Dharani and I am 25 years old. My father had passed away. I hail from a poor socio-economic status. I have three elder sisters. My mother is doing coolie work. My mother is the bread winner of the family and her income was not enough to sustain the family of 5 members.

It was in 2019 that I came to know about Navajeevana Grameena Abhivriddhi Samsthe (NGAS). NGAS providing Garments training to women at Mudgal. I had already completed my PUC before I decided to join the Garments training course. I was without any job after PUC that time through my friends I came to know about the Garments Training. I decided to enrol myself for the 4 months Garments training course. The training program covered were both theory and practical. We were taught Knowledge and Maintenance of sewing machine, different kinds of seams and stitches, pattern making, cutting techniques.

The practical sessions included Operation of treadle sewing machine, Practice of different types of seams, Practice of various upper, lower body garments. Drafting of basic blocks patterns, making of various patterns as per specification, Practice of various types of measurement, Practice of cutting various garments, cutting technique. Cutting of fabrics using patterns, Practice of sew like Baby Suit, Bloomers, Baby Frocks, Practice of sew Suits, Skirts, Tops, Salwar Khameez, Practice of sew Nightgowns, Housecoats, Shirts, Trousers, Pyjamas and Kurtas, Practice of Housecoats, Shirts, Trousers, Pyjamas and Kurtas.

The training was highly useful. It gave me a lot of confidence and enhanced my skills. After completion of training, a certificate was issued. NGAS helped me to get bank loan of Rs.1 lakh from Syndicate Bank, Mudgal Branch under self-employment scheme. I can earn from Rs. 5,000/- to Rs.7,000/- per month. My family’s economic condition has improved considerably. We can now afford things that we could not do so earlier. We now live a dignified and self-sufficient life. NGAS Garments training was a life changing event for me. It has created skills and knowledge useful for job.

 My family and myself are thankful to the NGAS staff team for creating skills among youths and equipping them for job market. They are providing wonderful services to the excluded sections of the society. My best wishes to NGAS staff team to let them create more skills among the youths. It will transform the youth from liability to asset to the family and the Nation.
