Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Mogappair East, Chennai

The Girl's school in Chennai has an area of 4.5 acres with easy access to public transport. The area is grossly underutilised in an area where there is an urgent need for educational facilities. There is a potential to cater to over 1200 girl students. Infrastructure needs to be created for the target student population.

The Rotary Club of Chennai Mid City Trust has adopted the school through an MOU with the Govt of Tamil Nadu. The Trust has already invested in buildings and projects worth about 5 crores over the past 12 years. This has helped increase the student population from 320 to 931 in four years. The Trust also commissioned one building last year of 9 classrooms.

There is an urgent need for one more building of at least 15 classrooms and attendant facilities of toilets, and labs.

We are building an additional building with 15 classrooms. We also propose to build a new Toilet block with 20 WCs- Total cost that is left to be raised is Rs. 20.75 lakhs of the total 4.11 Crores.

Additionally under the MOU with the TN Govt., the Trust has taken on the task of maintenance of the school, engagement through a School Council and promotion of better education through additional teachers etc., as needed.

With the enhanced infrastructure, The Trust intends to make education available to over 1200 students. The better maintenance of the school sports grounds and add-on teaching facilities promote the holistic development of the girls.

We intend the school to be a model school for all Govt. School in the State.
