Story

Plastic is one of the most common materials in use today, but its production and disposal have negative effects on biodiversity. Here are some of the ways in which plastic can harm biodiversity:

  1. Habitat destruction: Plastic waste can accumulate in natural habitats, including oceans, rivers, and forests, and can harm the animals that live there. Marine animals can mistake plastic for food, leading to ingestion and entanglement, which can be fatal.
  2. Chemical pollution: Plastic contains harmful chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates, which can leach into the environment and affect wildlife. These chemicals can disrupt the hormonal systems of animals, causing reproductive problems and other health issues.
  3. Invasive species: Plastic waste can act as a vector for invasive species, which can harm native ecosystems. Floating plastic can transport invasive species across oceans, and plastic debris can provide a substrate for invasive species to grow and spread.
  4. Microplastics: Microplastics, which are tiny plastic particles, have been found in many ecosystems, including oceans, rivers, and soil. These particles can be ingested by animals, leading to health problems, and can also enter the food chain, potentially affecting human health as well.
  5. Climate change: The production of plastic contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, which can have negative effects on biodiversity. Climate change can lead to habitat loss, changes in migration patterns, and other ecological disruptions.

Reducing the use of plastic and properly disposing of plastic waste can help protect biodiversity. Individuals can make a difference by reducing their use of single-use plastics, recycling plastic, and supporting policies that promote sustainable production and consumption. Together, we can work towards a healthier planet for all living beings.

Planting trees is incredibly important for many reasons, including:

  1. Combatting climate change: Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen through photosynthesis, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Trees also help to cool the air and reduce the urban heat island effect.
  2. Providing habitat: Trees provide habitats for a wide range of wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals. They also provide food and shelter for these animals, helping to support biodiversity.
  3. Improving air quality: Trees absorb pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia, and sulfur dioxide from the air, improving air quality and reducing the risk of respiratory problems.
  4. Reducing soil erosion: Trees help to prevent soil erosion by stabilizing the soil with their roots and protecting it from the wind and rain.
  5. Supporting human well-being: Trees provide shade, which can help to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses, and can also provide food, medicine, and other resources that are important for human health and well-being.
  6. Enhancing the beauty of the environment: Trees provide aesthetic value, enhancing the beauty of the environment and providing a sense of calm and tranquility.

Planting trees is a simple yet powerful way to make a positive impact on the environment and support biodiversity. It is a long-term investment that benefits both current and future generations. Whether you plant a single tree in your backyard or participate in a community tree-planting initiative, every tree counts in the effort to create a healthier and more sustainable world.

Its important that I introduce my wife and me. This was you have an understanding for whom you are supporting and why should you support us.

In 2017, my family - my wife Zsuzsanna Salda, our son Lucius, and daughter Nascha - had planned a fun-filled day at the beach. We were all excited to build sandcastles and play in the waves. However, things took an unexpected turn when we arrived at the beach and found it littered with plastic waste. Despite the disappointment, we decided to take action and clean up the beach. This became a regular routine for us - every time we visited the beach, we would pick up plastic bags and bottles and dispose of them in dry waste bins. Eventually, I even posted about our beach clean-up efforts on Facebook, inviting others to join us.

No one turned up...

My wife rolled up her sleeves and began picking the litter on the sands, and my kids followed suit.

People started to joined as the weeks passed by and its been 5 years now. Unknowingly, an act that started with four people had turned into an initiative driven by “12,000 volunteers, 700 tons removed till date, 5000 mangroves planted and 2 tons recycled .

We plan to start our project Green Dharti. I have in brief explained how the app will function and if i dont get the required funds I still will fund it on my own. However your help will easy the pressure on me

Green Dharti

Green Dharti app is an innovative project that aims to promote sustainable living and environmental conservation in India. With its focus on tree planting, eco products, and recycling, Green Dharti has the potential to make a significant impact on the environment and the lives of people in the country.

The tree planting app is a great way for individuals, corporations, and NGOs to get involved in environmental conservation. By creating an account and planting trees, users can not only make a positive impact on the environment but also track their progress and get a sense of achievement.

The second phase of the app, which involves sourcing and promoting eco products, is also an excellent idea. By aggregating eco-friendly products on the app, users can make informed choices and contribute to the growth of the green economy.

The third of recycling phase of the app is also an important aspect, as it incentivizes users to recycle household plastics and promotes responsible waste management.

Green Dharti has the potential to become a collective project that can bring together people and organizations from different walks of life and fight for environmental causes.

Green Dharti's focus on recycling plastic and planting more trees can have a significant impact on the environment.

By promoting recycling of household plastics, Green Dharti can help to reduce the amount of plastic waste that ends up in landfills or the ocean, thereby conserving natural resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling plastic also helps to reduce energy consumption and the carbon footprint of plastic production.

Furthermore, by incentivizing users to recycle plastic through monetary compensation, Green Dharti can encourage more people to adopt responsible waste management practices and reduce their contribution to plastic pollution.

On the other hand, planting more trees can have a range of positive impacts on the environment. Trees help to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and produce oxygen, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality. Trees also help to prevent soil erosion, improve water quality, and provide habitat for wildlife.

By promoting tree planting through its app, Green Dharti can help to increase the tree cover in India and mitigate the impacts of deforestation and climate change. This can have far-reaching benefits for the environment and society, including improved public health, increased biodiversity, and enhanced resilience to natural disasters.

In summary, Green Dharti's focus on recycling plastic and planting more trees can have a significant positive impact on the environment and promote sustainable living practices in India.
