Hearing Aid and Speech Therapy

In India, about 63 million people (6.3%) suffer from significant auditory loss. 4 in every 1000 children suffer from severe to profound hearing loss.

A person with hearing impairment is usually isolated from their family and friends, more so if they are also speech impaired. This puts the child with impaired hearing and speech at a disadvantage in school and higher education and other professional opportunities. Besides, the country also suffers a huge economic loss due to reduced productivity, higher unemployment, and lower wages for the hearing impaired.

It has been noted by the WHO that half the causes of deafness are preventable and about 30%, are treatable cases, or can be managed with assistive devices.

Mobility India, an NGO registered in 1994 and with 25 years of service for a noble cause is committed to rehabilitate and mainstream children, women, youth and elderly persons with disabilities from the weaker sections of the society. Towards our goal we work closely with individuals, community members, local agencies and caregivers to spread awareness and identify such a disability at an early age and provide early intervention.

Mobility India conducts community health awareness and screening programs across urban, peri-urban and rural districts of Bengaluru, Chamrajnagar, and Assam. Such health programs are aimed at identifying persons with hearing impairment/and speech loss at an early age and providing hearing aids and advanced medical care. This early intervention helps the person with hearing and speech impairment to attend school, to gain employment, and to be a contributing member to the family or a woman to lead an independent life and attend to routine house work.
