Education is very important for every child whether boy or girl. It is unfortunate that many communities in India still discriminate against the education of the girl child.

Education is the key factor for girls' empowerment, prosperity, development, and welfare. More than 50% of girls in India drop out of school before the age of 12.

There is continued inequality and vulnerability of girls in all sectors - education, social, political, health care, nutrition, economic, and legal.

Millions of young girls are oppressed in various spheres of life, and they need to be empowered. In order to fight against the socially constructed gender biases, girls & women have to swim against the system that requires more strength. 

Such strength comes from the process of empowerment, and empowerment is only possible through education, mentoring, and guidance.

What Happens When You Invest In a Girl's Education?

• For Every Extra Year a Girl Stays In school, Her Income Increases By 15-25%
• An Educated Girl Is More Likely To Be More Confident In Taking On Leadership Roles In The Professional Sphere
• An Educated Woman Invests Up to 90% Of Her Income Back Into Her Family's Well Being 
• An Educated Mother Is Twice As Likely To Send Her Children To School, Continuing The Cycle Of Education.

What Will The Funds Raised Through This Campaign Go Towards?

The funds will go towards the "Nanhi Kali" Girl-Child Education Initiative by the KC Mahindra Foundation. 

• 1 year of education costs roughly ₹5400 / $74 / £55 per child.
• Every girl child will be provided with 360-degree support which will include daily academic support and a school-supplies kit in a conducive girl-friendly ecosystem around them. 
• 100% funds raised through this Campaign go to Project Nanhi Kali.
• From every donation, 5% of the funds are retained by the charity for administrative, marketing, and fundraising costs; the remaining 95% is utilized exclusively towards project expenses.

When Will This Campaign End?

As the school academic year begins in June/July every year, this Campaign aims to raise funds till July 31st, 2023. Funds get transferred to the beneficiary NGO Project "Nanhi Kali" periodically, as they get raised.

Who Am I And Why Am I Doing This?

My name is Medha Dixit. Growing up in India with a middle-class army lifestyle, I've had a challenging yet far more privileged life than millions of young Indian girls, thanks to the love, support, and guidance of my family, friends, teachers, mentors, and everyone else who's touched my life.

I'm an alumna of the Army Institute of Technology, Pune and IIM Ahmedabad. I'm also the Founder of Digital Chakra, a UK-based Internet Marketing Business, focused on helping ambitious eCommerce Brands grow  through data-driven Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) strategy and Marketing Coaching.

I want to champion the cause of education for the girl child as every girl educated is a step forward for women's empowerment, and for India at large. 

"Be the Change You Wish To See In The World" inspires my thinking and this campaign is a small attempt towards that goal.
