Proper nutrition for school going children is considered to be crucial for their development and growth but unfortunately over 33 lakh children in India are malnourished and over 17 lakh out of these are severely malnourished, data suggests. “Our mission is simple. We want to make sure that not a single child in the country goes hungry and suffers the consequences of starvation”, says Madhurya Shroff, a senior member of Annamrita Foundation, one of the foremost organisations fighting hunger in India.
Our NGO partner Annamrita Foundation provides over 12 lakh nutrition packed mid-day meals to students of government school most of whom come from extremely poor backgrounds. However, there exists a sizable gap in funding that the NGO receives as support from the government and the actual cost of providing nutritious food.
The only way Annamrita Foundation can continue to support lakhs of children is through donations to fill the funding gap. Help the NGO in its nobel endeavour to end malnutrition in children. Donate now.
You can make a donation easily through UPI, all debit/credit cards and net banking.
Charitable donations to this fundraising campaign are tax exempted under 80G of the Income Tax Act (India), & 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (USA).
Building a better tomorrow
“Our greatest joy is in the fact that, today, thanks to our mid-day meals programme, lakhs of children across the country are learning instead of earning. Mothers today feel their children should go to school rather than going out to work . These children were earlier being sent for begging, picking pocket, rag picking, etc. But now they are becoming a pillar of the country’s future” says Madhurya with a sense of pride.
The Annamrita Foundation’s mid-day meal programme has increased school attendance in government schools across the country. And not just attendance, the highly nutritious food has enabled children to perform much better in academics as well as sports.
Why donate to Annamrita Foundation
“The founder of ISKCON, Srila Prabhupadaji, once saw children and dogs fighting for a piece of roti. This sight pained him immensely and he felt that it was our duty to ensure that no child goes hungry, says Madhurya while shedding light on the inceptions of the NGO.
The Annamrita Foundation which began by serving food to children in just one school has today expanded to 12 lakh daily meals for children across the country. The children that the NGO reaches come from the most marginalised and most underserved communities. These are the children who require nutrition support the most.
“When you see the joy of children receiving meals your hearts will be full of love. With a contribution of just Rs 1,100 you can ensure a needy child receives healthy meals for an entire school year. I urge you with folded hands to support us and give these children a healthier and brighter future”. Donate now
There is a sizable gap in funding between what we receive and what we spend owing to a steep rise in costs. We are dependent on the kindness of people to keep serving children day after day.
Donate to this fundraiser by Give, India’s largest and most trusted online giving platform, to support Annamrita Foundation in serving over 12 lakh midday meals to children from poor backgrounds and nurturing their future.
Vishal is a little boy who deserves to live as a child does. Well-fed, school-going, and burden-free. Unfortunately, his mother's poor health poses a tremendous financial handicap for his family. His father, a humble shop worker, finds it difficult to pay his wife's medical bills and his son's meals simultaneously.
So difficult is his situation that little Vishal comes to school without even eating anything to save his father from having to care for him. Annamrita Foundation is responsible for providing him with mid-day meals to sustain his nutrition and allow him to concentrate on his studies. Vishal dreams of being a doctor one day and the Annamrita Foundation, with the help of our generous donors, is making that dream a reality.
There are over 143 children just like Vishal who are fed daily thanks to our efforts. But we still require the resources to achieve Annamrita Foundation's aim of feeding the more than 12 lakh children who need our help. End classroom hunger and decrease malnutrition by giving your continued support!
Donate now to keep a smile on these kids' faces and help create a brighter future for all of us.
Thank you for your contribution! With the amount raised so far, we are already serving nutritious meals to 435 children living in slum and tribal areas. However, there are still 11,99,565 more children who urgently need your support!
The Annamrita Foundation's mid-day program serves nutritious meals to children studying in government-aided, government-unaided, and low-income private schools in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
