Help Build a School for Students of Malwani Mumbai

With one of the highest density, Malwani is Asia's second-largest slum accommodating migrant workers from northern India who have come to Mumbai in search of better work and possibilities.

And within Malwani, there is a typical slum pocket called Ambujwadi, which lacks access to the majority of the fundamental services that every Indian citizen is entitled to, like pakka road, drinking water, sanitation etc

The lack of a community school that offers quality education at no or nominal fee is a glaring indicator.

For the past 20 years, Gurukul High School has provided an exceptional education to Malwani children, but we have been limited by space and scattered classrooms.

We've long recognised the importance of having a school within the slum of Ambujwadi with sufficient space to impart the requisite effectiveness.

We've secured a piece of land within the slum that can house an independent standing building with facilities for a library, laboratories and other extracurricular activities, as well as a sports field that can accommodate the 12 sports options we offer to our existing pupils.

We want to achieve this while still lowering student fees.

Our ambition is to make the most of a student's time in school while remaining true to the moniker "Gurukul."

The funds obtained will be utilised to build a new school and will also be used as fees for students who require financial assistance, reducing their cost burden.

• Create the first institute in the Ambujwadi slum of Malwani that provides outstanding education.
• Scholarships will be awarded to 120 students by dividing the amount received through Fundraising
• In Ambujwadi, this will be the venue that can accommodate the largest number of people for any cultural or educational event.
• With the addition of a school, Ambujwadi's general development measures, such as infrastructure, drinking water, and waste management, will be more relevant and can be advanced.
• It will also be a center for providing govt facilities like Aadhar card, polio drop, election booth etc
