Help Empower People equip Villages to fight against COVID-19

We at Social Service Club NIT Nagaland have started this fundraiser to help EMPOWER PEOPLE in equipping communities of Bride Trafficking Survivors in fighting against Covid-19.

Empower People is setting up Community Resource Centers in villages for dealing with Covid-19 emergencies and extend the necessary care and support to the affected people in their immediate neighbourhood. Considering how the social and familial fabric was destroyed by this pandemic and how people were left alone in their most troubled time, the organization is establishing community isolation centers with active collaboration from local government and mobilising Volunteers and other social spirited persons to establish a community resource center in their immediate neighbourhood and make a committee to manage the center.

The organisation is equipping the Centers with the necessary resources and training such as how to facilitate isolation to prevent spread, how to safely feed patients, how to respond in a serious case, how and when to get the patient to the hospital etc. The organisation is also helping them be prepared with a plan of how a Covid-19 patient can be transferred (transportation in absence of ambulance) to a hospital and how an isolated person can have food. It is also looking into basic relief and food supply to the family of the affected person in case the Covid-19 patient is a sole livelihood earner of the family. Most community isolation centers (Resource centers) are divided into two parts- a women’s ward and a men’s ward, where local people can stay following their traditional customs.

In villages where 10-15 people live in small tenements, these centers are providing relief in stopping the spread and ensuring smooth recovery along with necessary steps of hospitalisation in case of a serious condition. The organization aims to increase the number of centers to meet future challenges which are being predicted by health experts and WHO. Help the organisation build confidence to fight the pandemic in more and more villages.
