The Jehovah Jireh Foundation is dedicated to supporting fatherless children and widowed families from some of the most marginalized and underserved regions of India, including the Hubli-Dharwad District, Sirpur Tribal Region, and Kondapalle Tribal Region. In these regions, the loss of a father results not only in deep emotional trauma but also in the loss of the family’s primary source of income, pushing households into severe financial distress. Widowed mothers, often illiterate and lacking employable skills, depend on irregular daily wage labour that is insufficient to meet even basic needs. As a result, children are at high risk of dropping out of school, entering child labour, or facing early marriage—especially in remote tribal communities where access to education and support services is extremely limited.
The Problem
In many parts of India, losing a father often means losing the family’s only breadwinner. This leaves children vulnerable to:
Widowed mothers struggle to support their families with inconsistent income and are often forced to choose between providing food and continuing their children’s education.
A Child’s Story
“I almost left school after my father died…”
In the tribal regions of Kondapalle, Sirpur, and Hubli-Dharwad, many children are silently suffering.
Tannu Bhai, a 12-year-old girl, shares:
“My mother works all day, but we still don’t have enough. I was about to stop going to school… I want to become a teacher, but I thought my dream was over.” With timely support, Tannu Bhai is now back in school, continuing her education and working toward her dream.
A Mother’s Voice
“Some days, I sleep hungry so my children can eat. I don’t want them to suffer like me… I just want them to study.”
Our Current Work
The foundation is currently supporting 40 orphan children through its scholarship and orphan support programs. These initiatives ensure that children can continue their education by covering essential expenses such as:
In addition, the foundation provides emotional care and counselling, while also working with widowed mothers to explore livelihood opportunities and improve family stability. This holistic approach addresses both the immediate needs of children and the long-term economic challenges faced by their families.
The Need
Despite these efforts, the need remains urgent and far exceeds current capacity. Many children in these regions still lack access to education, proper care, and hope for a better future. Through this crowdfunding initiative, the foundation aims to expand its reach and support 100–200 orphan children in the coming years by:
Project Cost
The total cost to support the current 40 children under the scholarship program is ₹4,80,000 per year (₹1,000 per child per month). This amount directly ensures their education and basic needs, helping them stay in school and away from vulnerable situations.
Conclusion
With additional support, the foundation plans to expand into more remote tribal communities and build a sustainable support system that transforms not only individual lives but entire communities. By contributing to this initiative, donors can play a vital role in breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability. Every contribution helps:
