Relentless floods have turned vast stretches of Maharashtra into rivers of sorrow - severely affecting millions of farmers across districts. In parts of the Marathwada region devastating rains have washed away what little stability its farming families had rebuilt. In large parts of Beed & Nanded district, farmers have lost their crops and faced damage to their fields. In some places, even homes have faced damage.

In Rakshaswadi village, Beed district, a farmer stands beneath grey skies, watching muddy water cover what was once the pride of his family – his fields and the well he built after years of saving. Soybean and cotton, his main crops, are gone. Equipment and water pipelines have vanished, swept away in the flood surge. With pain in his voice, he shares, “I lost INR 3 lakh from cotton and INR 2 lakh from soybean, which I know will never come back. But what hurts the most is losing my fertile generational land due to debris. It’s been a month since the floods, and I still don’t know how to process the loss.”

He is not alone: Thousands like him in Beed and Nanded face the same devastation, mourning lost harvests, ruined infrastructure, and the uncertainty of tomorrow.
