Born from one unforgettable moment

Happy Feet Home was born from an experience Mansi could never forget. "I was very attached to this 3-year-old girl. She had a brain tumour," she says. When the child hugged her tightly before boarding a train home, it felt like a final goodbye. That heartbreaking moment inspired Mansi to dedicate her life to children who may never receive a cure. "If I start something, I will work with children who have illnesses which may not have a cure... That's when the idea of Happy Feet Home came into my mind."

Every donation changes a child's future

Many children arrive at Happy Feet Home carrying far more than an illness. "It's not 1, not 2, but 3 or 4 issues that they are grappling with in life," Mansi explains. Poverty, abandonment and years without affection often leave emotional scars as deep as their medical conditions. Some children have even told her that the first hug they ever received was after arriving at the centre.

Yet with proper nutrition, medicines, counselling and constant care, lives begin to change. One girl who was once not responding to treatment is now a healthy college student. Another boy arrived weighing just 17 kilos after living on the streets. Today, he is healthy and learning professional cricket. These transformations are only possible because compassionate people chose to donate.

Providing lifelong care for children with HIV, thalassemia and cancer requires constant support. There was even a time when Happy Feet Home had to shut its centre for nearly two weeks because of a lack of funding.
