Jafar was born and raised in the slums of Seelampur, Delhi, amidst poverty and darkness. He was engaged in rag picking and other menial tasks for survival, and devoid of educational opportunities. He also faced domestic violence and abuse from an alcoholic father, disrupting his mental well-being.

Salaam Baalak Trusts - Delhi (SBT) Mobile School Bus (community point) became a beacon of hope, offering education, counselling, and support. They found motivation and solace through the educational programmes and guidance provided by SBT. Overcame adversities and enrolled in formal schooling, starting from the 3rd grade. Jafar currently works as a guide with the Salaam Baalak Trust's City Walk program, showcasing his resilience and determination.

Salaam Baalak trust helps:

A segment of Delhi's population lives on the streets or in slum areas spread across Delhi. These are vulnerable children open to trafficking and abuse. Our social and outreach workers strive hard to build bonds of trust and friendship with them, their peers and families. We motivate them to attend our programmes at our many Contact Points where they have access to education, medical aid, a healthy meal, life skills, and the opportunity to realise their full potential.

We have 9 contact points (day care) in different communities across Delhi. SBT requests for support for these community points - with a monthly expense of nearly 2 lakhs per month per centre - with an average of 370 children ( thru all 9 contact points ) daily at any given point of time.
