“If I did not get meals here, I would not even have enough money to buy medicines,” says Chand Pasha, 65, a beneficiary of Prasanna Trust’s Anna Daana initiative. “I have been coming once a week to the hospital for more than a year now and these meals have been a God-sent for me”, he says. Not just Chand Pasha, Swami Sukhabodhananda and his NGO Prasanna Trust have been providing daily nutritious meals to thousands of other poor patients and their families each day for over three decades.
But Prasanna Trust is finding it difficult to meet the growing need on its own. It requires funds to extend its reach to more hospitals. Support Prasanna Trust in its mission to save thousands of helpless, underprivileged families of hunger. Donate now.

Anna Daana, the highest form of service
The reality is that every day, countless people from rural areas come to hospitals in cities for treatment and the family members of patients live outside hospitals with neither food nor proper shelter. Often, many of them end up spending their life’s savings for the treatment of their loved ones and struggle to get even one meal a day.
“Once I went to a government hospital to visit an acquaintance and I saw hordes of people sleeping on the streets, outside the hospital, during the winters in December. This sight left me shocked. These were relatives of patients admitted at the hospital and had come from remote villages. Many of them had not had a proper meal in days. It was then that I resolved that If not much, I will do my best to at least give them one nutritious meal a day,” says Swami Sukhabodhananda, shedding light on the beginning of his lifelong mission.
The plight of the helpless
“While distributing food to people at government hospitals, I have seen people moved to tears after receiving food. They had gone hungry for days before we reached them. These people are already suffering with ailing family members and hunger only makes their suffering worse,” says Swami Sukhabodhananda.
Today, the NGO serves close to 10,000 meals each day. But according to Swami Sukhabodhananda the need is far more and due to the paucity of funds, the NGO is failing to reach many more people in need.
“There are still thousands of people in need of food, but I cannot reach them alone. Help me in this noble mission of Anna Daan. A little contribution from you will provide essential meals to countless people in need,” pleads Swami Sukhabodhananda.
