Help protect children from developmental delays

Story

Niranjan’s abnormal birth caused him to live with a condition called cerebral palsy. All his mobilities were afflicted, including balance and coordination. Frequent episodes of convulsion made his condition very crippling. His parents did not know where to find a solution for his issues until they reached Adarsh Charitable Trust in February 2018. Niranjan was only 1-year-old then.

The early intervention programs in Adarsh focused on Adarsh's developmental areas intensively with systematic developmental training. During his 4 years of rehabilitation training in Adarsh, he showed marked improvements in all areas at regular intervals. This opened a window for his parents to make a significant change to normal school for Niranjan.

Today he is capable of handling the rigours of the mainstream curriculum. Niranjan’s parents do not doubt that this would not have been possible if he had not joined Adarsh at the right time.

Adarsh is changing many lives like that of Niranjan, but it cannot do it alone. It needs your support regularly. Donate monthly

Early Intervention is always necessary

Early intervention services are special services for infants and toddlers at risk for developmental delays. These services are designed to identify and meet children’s needs in five developmental areas. These are physical, cognitive, communication, social or emotional development, sensory, and adaptive development. Early intervention includes the provision of services to such children and their families to lessen the effects of the condition.

Early intervention can be remedial or preventive—remediating the existing developmental problems or preventing their occurrence. To ascertain the eligibility of the child for early intervention, certain screening and diagnostic measures are adopted. Some children develop more slowly than others or develop in ways that seem different from other children.

The rapid advances in medical technology have successfully increased the survival of high-risk babies, thus adding to the number of babies who might end up with developmental delays and disabilities.

The present scenario is that early intervention services for children with developmental delays are far too scattered and the existing Early Intervention services units are concentrated in the urban areas. Further, the major hurdle in the development of the services is the lack of trained professionals.

Adarsh requires your regular support to address the issues and protect children from developmental delays. Donate monthly
