Imagine a child with a disability growing up in a rural family where parents work as daily-wage labourers and cannot afford specialised education and therapy.

For many such children, disability is made even harder by poverty, limited services and distance from specialised centres.

At Ritham Special School, we believe that a child's future should not be determined by disability, poverty or where they live.

Founded in 2004 with just four children, Ritham Charitable Trust has spent more than two decades working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD and multiple disabilities.

Today, Ritham supports children from rural and economically disadvantaged communities in and around Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu.

We provide a holistic range of services including:

• Special education
• Physiotherapy
• Speech and language support
• Occupational therapy
• Early intervention
• Autism support
• Psychological and behavioural support
• Yoga and developmental activities
• Free/affordable transportation
• Vocational training
• Sheltered workshop activities
• Family counselling and awareness
• Outpatient rehabilitation services

Our goal is not simply to teach a child academic lessons.

We help children develop communication, mobility, self-care, social skills, vocational abilities and greater independence—according to their individual potential.
