Help Satya's kids with special needs

Children with special needs do not receive appropriate individualized therapy and education in Pondicherry. Their development is further delayed without proper therapy. Children with special needs who can lead independent lives as contributing members of society are isolated and their possible growth is stunted.

In rural Pondicherry, there are many superstitions surrounding disability, especially intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Satya Special School's programs combine modern, traditional, and alternative therapies for optimal development of each child with special needs. With a trained team of special educators, physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and others such as musicians, artists, and performers, Satya's programs help multiply the effect of each kind of intervention.

We provide children with the following therapies and resources for development:

11. Hobbies
12. Vocational training

and any resource that will help the child and/or the parents access a better life for the child.

Many of the children at our centres go on to be integrated into mainstream schools, and some of them move on to our vocational centres for training.

We have around 1100 children across our ten centres, including three village centres. While some of the projects are funded, we need help for about 50 children urgently.

We wish to provide therapy that will enable the 50 children to reach their maximum potential: be it performing their own Activities of Daily Living, graduating Class 10 under National Open Schooling, or moving on to study a vocation at the community college.

We want each child to receive all the resources necessary to enable their maximum development. We wish to mainstream at least 5 of these 50 children in government or private schools.
