Every hour there is a child born in India with Thalassemia. 1 in every 25 people in India is a carrier of this ailment. Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body is unable to make adequate haemoglobin. Haemoglobin
is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in large numbers of red blood cells being
destroyed, which leads to anaemia.Survival of a Thalassemia Major depends upon life-long repeated blood transfusion every 2-3 weeks & daily costly iron chelating drugs. Cost of the treatment is Rs.50,000- Rs.2,00,000 per annum.
We will identify children with Thalassemia major. We will document their inspiring stories and bring them to society via different platforms like stage shows, Talks, social media, etc. Also, we will provide financial help to towards their treatment. We organise Blood Donation camps frequently to ensure sufficient blood availability for frequent Blood transfusions of the Children with Thalassemia.
We ensure regular blood transfusions of the selected children with Thalassemia. We provide direct financial support to the children whose families cannot afford to pay for the treatment. By spreading awareness on Thalassemia and organizing Blood donation drives, we believe youth are going to come forward to help these children and donate blood.
