Help ShelterSquare Foundation provide more nutritious food to migrant workers in Surat

ShelterSquare Foundation is operating a Mess and Hostel for poor migrant workers in an industrial area of Surat, Gujarat. Our workers are mostly from Ganjam district in Odisha and work in the powerloom sector in Surat, Gujarat.

They do intense physical labor for 12-14 hours a day. We usually have about a 100-150 people living with us and eating in our mess. They are very grateful and happy with the hostel and kitchen facility that we have created.

Our mess provides good quality, hygienically prepared food in good quantity. We are keen to increase its nutritional value - given the physical nature of the workers' occupation - by increasing the proteins in the food. The best way to do this is to provide one egg a day to these workers, along with the food.

However, most workers will not be able to pay for this (approximately Rs. 10 per egg, including preparation) and so we are starting a fundraiser to raise funds to provide an egg a day to about 150 workers.
