DEESHA Group is an NGO working for the overall development of Youth and Society. From last 7 years DEESHA is working for the eradication of corneal blindness from our country. DEESHA Group has organised numerous eye donation pledge campaigns, awareness camps and free eye checkup camps. Till date for than 3.5 lakh people pledge for eye donation during the eye donation awareness campaign ROSHNI ZINDAGI MEIN.

DEESHA Group has two functional DEESHA EYE BANKs at Amravati and Yavatmal in Maharashtra. These two units are providing round-the-clock eye donation facility across the districts. Recently Deesha is honored with the "Transparancy Award 2016" by GuideStar India. All legal documents of DEESHA are available on the guidestarindia.org website.

This is but a small step and Deesha needs funds to establish more such eye banks and transplantation centers, for purchasing medical instruments and bring down the cost of eye transplant to as low as possible.

Stastics:

Blindness continues to be one of the major public health problems in INDIA. In India, it is estimated that there are approximately 6.8 million people who have vision less than 6/60 in at least one eye due to corneal diseases; of these, about a million have bilateral involvement. It is expected that the number of individuals with unilateral corneal blindness in India will increase to 10.6 million by 2020.

According to the NPCB estimates, there are currently 500,000 corneal blind persons in the country and there is addition of 25,000-30,000 corneal blindness cases every year in the country. DEESHA Group has established a series of Deesha Eye Banks & Transplantation Centers where currently no eye donation or transplantation facility is presently available. Currently Deesha Eye Bank Amravati & Yavatmal are providing round-the-clock eye donation facility in the respective districts.
