Saksham Dheemahi Project at Thoppur near Madurai is triggered by three tragic incidents where parents of autistic children killed their own children (not wanting to leave them behind alone in an uncaring society) & then committed suicides, due to loss of livelihood, during Corona, highlighting the need for comprehensive support systems. Autism prevalence on increase (178% since 2000).
Dheemahi will become a comprehensive residential therapeutic & vocational training center offering free services for all beneficiaries regardless of religion, caste, colour or creed, as we do not want any child to be deprived of our services for want of money or parental or societal attitudes.
