Help The Needy - Helping adversely affected families in Rajasthan due to Covid-19

There are people fighting with hunger amidst the pandemic.

Last year, the first wave took away their jobs and savings and now, the second wave has turned their circumstances more miserable.

At present, Medical support is out of question and reach for them when they are barely able to feed their children.

Who are ‘They’

They are the soul bread earner mothers, widowed women, old age couples, disabled individuals and many unfortunate families living in Jaipur who have no source of income and food. Every single day amidst the pandemic, they are striving to feed themselves while keeping their families safe and alive.

So before they lose hope, let us all come together to do whatever we can to ensure that no one sleeps hungry.

The hope stands on all of us. We are planning to help 5000+ families in Rajasthan.

Our first priority are the mothers who are either widowed/ separated or have no support from their husbands and still need help to run their kitchen and home.

Secondly, we will provide rations to old couples and families who have no source of income amidst the ongoing pandemic.

Most of the these people are either daily wage workers/ house helpers/ laborers/painters who are truly struggling to fulfill their basic needs.

We propose to intervene in three main domains mentioned as follows - 

A. Support in the form Grocery (Dry items, home ration kit) 

B. Support for Mental Health

C. Financial assistance to families that have lost their sole-breadwinner due to COVID

A; Support in the form of Grocery : What a Ration kit includes :

Wheat Flour 10 Kg, Rice 1 Kg, Dal (Lentils) 1Kg, Edible Oil (Mustered) 200ml, Spices 100gm each (Chili, Turmeric ), Iodized Salt 1kg, Sugar 1kg and Toiletries – Soap . each for bathing and washing. 

Per Ration kit expenditure is about INR 500/-

B. We would like to propose for online counseling services for COVID – 19 through helpline number where Mental Health Experts will attend the callers and provide online counseling. This is essentially important in this situation where people are afraid of infection and its consequences.

C. There are many families who lost their sole-breadwinner due to COVID -19 and are in extreme grief. With their breadwinners they lost their hope for food security and other financial security. The entire world has lost for them. We wish to mitigate the impact of deceased sole-breadwinner in the family through one-time financial help to the family. 

This is a joint initiative by Mindroot Foundation and its partners including Contree, Arms Around the Child, UnderRoot Films, Blue Monkeys Club.

For the past 5 years, we have been working in some of the slum areas in Jaipur city such as Soot Mill, Jawahar Nagar, Jhalana Dungari (Indra Nagar, Shiv Colony), Jhalana Kunda and Mahal Basti, Mohanpura (Jagatpura) and others in association with some other organizations to deal with issues such as Mental Health, RMNCHA+, Hygiene and Sanitation, Waste Management, Women Empowerment, Education and Skill Development, etc.
