Story

According to Most of the studies conducted across India with CNCP have some common denominators. 60% of the parents or guardians are illiterate. 72% of families earn less than INR 6,000 per month and are considered Below the Poverty Line (BPL). The sheer need to survive overwhelms and subdues every other prerequisite that is essential for a reduction in intergenerational poverty, leading to very low permeability of education in these communities. Without necessary education, the ability to find a job that pays well enough to climb out of poverty is reduced significantly, leading to another generation not being able to escape the vicious cycle of poverty

We are at a critical juncture in human history where there is a recognition that the existing impact methodologies are unable to uplift the most vulnerable out of poverty at the pace that is needed. It takes seven generations for a child born in the bottom 10% of the income distribution to earn a mean income in India of USD 250 per month! The crisis has brought a sense of urgency in developing alternate models of delivering impact that can solve the problem in its full scale globally.

Beneficiary Demographics

Currently we operate in the following 22 cities

  1. North India - Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi, Lucknow
  2. West and Central India - Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bhopal, Gwalior
  3. South India - Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Cochin, Trivandrum, Vellore, Coimbatore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vizag, Vijayawada, Guntur

These 22 cities will serve 200 children per city, except in Bangalore and Delhi/ Hyderabad (400 children each).

The gender break up currently is 55% boys and 45% girls across all our operations with the age distribution for the 5,000 children being:

– 1,800 children in the 10-13 age group

– 2,200 children in the 14-16 age group

– 500 children in the 17-18 age group and

– 500 youth in the 19-28 age group.

We are at an inflection point in our organizational journey. We have a proven impact model that is now recognized as the best in the sector globally and we are looking for funders who would help us build the capacity to solve the problem in its full scale.

Our sense of urgency to scale comes from the fact that the pandemic has wiped out the savings and buffers of more than 100 million of India's poorest and we are anticipating a big influx of highly vulnerable children into our poorly resourced child protection system. Our focus is to rapidly build capacity at the community level so that the children receive the support they require without being institutionalized.

MAD’s priority is to build the necessary systems & processes to become scale-ready by building a robust tech platform & entering into strategic partnerships that will enable us to scale exponentially till the problem is solved for every child in need of care & protection.

Support children born into poverty break the cycle and sustain futures as bright as their dreams
