Diya Foundation has embarked on a vital mission – Pre-Vocational training for teenagers aged 15 to 17. Recognizing the demand from parents for early skill development, we aim to provide foundational training to help them discover their interests.Starting early is key. When these teens turn 18, they'll seamlessly transition into employability programs, avoiding delays and starting their careers with confidence. By focusing on essential life skills, personal social skills, and work readiness now, we're laying the foundation for their success.To support this effort, we've hired two dedicated staff members. We're now seeking partial funding for their salaries. Your contribution will empower these young individuals to pursue their dreams and build a brighter future. Diya Foundation was born out of the need to provide adults with Intellectual challenges life experiences, training and a safe environment where they could be prepared to meet life’s challenges with dignity and positivity.Maria Santamaria, a special educator, began this venture with 3 adults and one staff. Supported by family and friends and an initial investment of Rs. 3000/- Diya Foundation was registered in Bangalore, Karnataka, as a charitable Trust in March 1999. Over the years, over 200+ adults and their families have benefitted from Diya’s training program.In its twenty second year Diya Foundation stands as a model for training and employment of people with special needs, preparing them with job skills, daily living skills and the ability to be self-dependent for the future.Currently 45 adults avail Diya’s training in Life skills, Personal Social Skills, Employability skills and Assisted Living training supported by a staff team of 15, four of whom are differently abled. Diya operates out of rented premises. Adults are provided with transportation at subsidized rates, receive support to access government schemes like pension and insurance and opportunities to engage in different activities within and outside Diya and provide free services for families in the low income category . Some are employed under supported employment in our Social Enterprise, Diya Innovations and some are employed under sheltered employment in our Digitization Workstation, Studio C Cubed. Still others are under open employment in Companies whilst a few are under internships with Companies.Our VisionTo see individuals with a disability and their families alive with dignity and pride in the present; and operating with love, respect and confidence, in the future.Our MissionTo enrich the quality of life and bring dignity to differently abled adults by educating them in life skills and employability skills towards self-dependence, building support systems and enhancing awareness in the community.
