Campaign by Parashar Foundation
An international-level badminton player with 2 organ transplants, Dharmendra Soti has made India proud on the world stage, with 4 medals at the World Transplant Games. Being a government servant, he has traveled to the World Transplant Games 3 times at his own expense. The cost of participation has been extensive, including tickets, registration, and accommodation, but Dharmendra has somehow managed it with support from friends and family. His efforts have not been in vain. He has come back from the Games with 4 medals for his country.
ORGAN India, an initiative of the Parashar Foundation has been appointed the Team Manager for Team India at the World Transplant Games 2023 in Perth, Australia. We are already preparing to take the largest Indian contingent ever at the World Transplant Games, and get them the best training and coaching available BUT WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO ENSURE THAT DHARMENDRA IS ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AND BRING BACK MORE MEDALS FOR INDIA!
Dharmendra could not participate in the last Games in Newcastle, UK in 2019 as he had to receive another kidney transplant. He has since recovered and has been consistently training to bring home another medal. We aim to help Dharmendra by covering the costs of his travel, accommodation, training, and support in the form of coaches, physiotherapists, and administrators. "The total cost of Rahul's participation will be around 3.5 lakhs'.
India’s Organ Donation Rate is amongst the lowest in the world, largely due to a lack of awareness of organ donation, and myths surrounding life after transplant. Dharmendra’s participation in the upcoming Games gives hope to all those who have received an organ transplant and will encourage more people to pledge to be organ donors.
We hope to create an impact in two ways.
One: for Dharmendra to represent India and win medals thereby showing what is achievable by our athletes.
Two: To raise awareness throughout the country on organ donation and transplant on the lives that can not only be saved but lived to the fullest. The people who can be saved if everyone pledges to donate their organs can not only live long fruitful lives, but also go on to achieve great things for their community and country.
