Help us set-up libraries across India and spread the joy of reading

1 out of every 2 children cannot read at grade level in India, moreover, there are several schools across the country that simply do not have access to non-academic reading resources and the infrastructure to set up a library.

There's also a severe lack of funds to start a library. We are striving to make books accessible to every child by raising money for 1000 libraries to reach the last mile child.

Donate-a-Book is a crowdfunding platform set up by Pratham Books in 2015. The platform helps bridge those in need of books and those who want to help. The platform allows the beneficiary to get books at no cost, and have access to choose multilingual books and multi-level books. They also have the option to choose either books or Library-in-a-classroom kits* with the money raised.

100% of the money raised goes to the beneficiaries in the form of our books. They have the liberty to choose the titles, reading levels, genres, and language of the books from our vast collection.

*Library-in-a-classroom kit is developed for schools that are infrastructure and resource-scarce. Each kit has 90-120 books. They are portable and can be hung in the classroom, on a window sill, a hook, or such. They are customizable according to the reading levels and language preferences of the organization.

To date, we have distributed over 25,00,000 books to over 27 states in India. The Donate-a-Book platform has hosted over 680 campaigns that have impacted over 10,00,000 children.
