Story

In today’s world, education is the foundation of individual growth, societal progress, and national development. It is the ultimate path to a brighter future. Education not only equips people with knowledge but also empowers them to build better livelihoods, improve their well-being, and strengthen their communities. However, in India, an alarming challenge exists:

52% of the Muslim population lacks basic literacy skills.

This gap in education is tightly interwoven with the cycle of poverty, which affects nearly one-third of India's population. Poverty brings along a host of related problems—poor health, unemployment, inadequate access to education, and malnutrition, all contributing to an endless cycle of hardship. Among those who suffer most are Muslims, one of the fastest-growing communities in the world, who face even greater barriers to accessing quality education.

A Community in Crisis

Existing institutions often struggle to provide education that preserves Islamic values and principles, which is crucial for the personal and spiritual development of Muslim youth. Many Muslim children are left without the resources they need to succeed—lacking even basic items like books and uniforms. Many youth are forced to drop out of school early to support their families, while those who remain often receive inadequate education due to underfunded schools and overburdened teachers.

Without education, these children are caught in the same cycle of poverty that has trapped generations before them. Education is the only way out.

The Stark Reality: Facts and Figures

  • 25% of beggars in India are Muslim ( All India Debt & Investment Survey, 2021).
  • In 2021, 11 million Muslim children dropped out of school due to lack of funds.
  • 51% of Muslims are illiterate, and 18.64% of Muslim students drop out in the 11th and 12th grades from 2021 to 2023.
  • 31% of Muslims live below the poverty line, contributing to a situation where education becomes secondary to survival.

This deprivation affects not only their lives but also the community at large. An uneducated generation results in limited economic opportunities, lower employment rates, and fewer chances for young Muslims to make meaningful contributions to society.

Our Mission: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

We cannot allow this cycle to continue. We aim to empower Muslim youth through education and open doors of opportunity for generations to come. Our mission is clear: to break this cycle and build a future where every child has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.

Introducing Al Aqsa University: A Beacon of Hope

At the Salahuddin Ayyubi Foundation, we envision an institution that will not only bridge the educational gap but also provide essential skills, social support, and a renewed sense of hope. Our proposed Al Aqsa University will offer a comprehensive curriculum grounded in Islamic values, covering early childhood education, post-secondary learning, and adult education. It will be a beacon of learning, much like the esteemed Aligarh Muslim University.

Our school is not just about academics—it's about holistic growth. We will provide state-of-the-art facilities, including:

- Modern computer labs

- A dedicated mental health support center

- A fully-equipped gymnasium

- Quran classes for spiritual growth

- Coding classes to equip students with vital skills for today’s global job market

Location: District Ajmer, India

Why Ajmer? Ajmer is a city deeply rooted in history and Sufi culture, a place of spiritual refuge. Establishing Al Aqsa University here is a tribute to the city’s rich heritage and a strategic decision to provide a peaceful, nurturing environment for our students.

In our inaugural year, we aim to admit 6,000 students, with 2,500 of them benefiting from the Salahuddin Ayyubi Foundation Masoom Scholarship Programme, receiving not only education but also essential school supplies.

Objectives of Al Aqsa University:

- Provide quality education infused with Islamic values.

- Promote cultural identity and a strong sense of community.

- Nurture the next generation of Muslim leaders.

- Offer adult learning and professional development opportunities.

Our Plan and Budget

In 2024-2025, we secured a prime piece of land in Ajmer with an investment of INR 8 Crore (~USD 483,200.00). Our total budget for the project is around $2 million, covering land acquisition, construction, equipment, and other expenses.

Facilities Planned:

- 3 School Buildings

- 1 Central Library

- 3 Laboratories

- 1 Food Court

- 1 Sports Hall

- 1 Psychosocial Support Room

- Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels (Future Development)

  • Al Aqsa Mosque

These facilities will cost approximately INR 20 Crore. While we’ve made significant progress, we need your support to reach our goal.
