Help Women Leaders Use Tech To Empower Young Girls

An 8-year-old has to dance at weddings to help put food on the table. 

Being pulled out of school at age 12, because your parents say your worth lies in getting married. 

Being pressured to marry and then having to spend three years with violent, abusive in-laws. 

These are our stories; the stories of so many young girls and women across India, too often swept under the rug.

Someone needs to break this cycle. As the saying goes, if not us, then who? If not now, then when?

We are Rani, Summi, and Mahjabi from Sri Niwas Puri Camp, New Delhi. 

As Young Women Leaders who have fought against gender-based violence in our own homes, we want to support other girls and women to come out of these same situations.

Education is one way out. But few women in our communities actually finish school, let alone go to college, and get well-paying jobs. We want to start giving girls access to basic tech skills that they can use for their education and also reclaim their right to a better future. And we want to start with 15 girls this year (2023-24). 

So we’re setting up a Community Tech Centre to empower other girls and women like us!

As we strive to provide girls and women from marginalized communities access to technology and their rights, will you help us make that dream a reality?

What will your contribution go towards?

• Skill-building and training of young girls
• Purchasing assets like computers, cameras, WiFi, software, inverters, and other equipment for the Community Tech Center
• Operating costs for our Tech Centre (like rent, utilities, etc.)
• A modest stipend for the three of us
• Resources to hold community meetings and mobilization drives 
• Resources to enroll girls into the program

Every contribution you make will help us create a beautiful ripple effect, as we use technology to empower girls and young women in our small community, who will go on to empower others, and so on!
