Home Care for the Bedridden Mentally Challenged Children

The parents failed in early identification & detection of symptoms of Mentally Retarded (MR) and Cerebral Palsy (CP) of their affected children due to lack of and low level of awareness and education.

Even if some of the parents identify the symptoms, they do not try out the preventive measures and avail government schemes.

The parents are not willing to send their IC children to care centres and special schools because they are not able to carry the children physically and the children have no bowel control Also, the MR & CP children are not able to brush, spoon-feeding, dress and clean themselves.

Physiotherapy is not affordable to parents as it costs Rs. 200/- per visit by physiotherapists. Even if they think of taking these children out for consultation, they have to forego their daily wage.

The MR & CP children don't have access to medical care due to the above-mentioned inevitable reasons.

Awareness creation: Children will go through a career counselling session which provides them with access to information about careers, education and livelihoods with the finest co-operation from the Dindigul district administration.

To create awareness among the parents /caregivers of MR & CP about the currently available health care and educational system.

Home-based training on Daily Living Skills (DLS). Providing special education, speech, physiotherapy training, and communication skills at the doorsteps.

- To help 250 MR and CP children to receive quality health care at free of cost.

- Reducing the burden of IC children parents.

- Improving the life skill activities of the MR & CP.

-Improve the status of MR & CP children.

-To look after themselves through therapies.

We try to bring the children with special needs to educational centres especially

Convergence with Government departments for facilitating the target children, providing vocational skills development training on a smaller scale.

Link with the NIRMAYA Insurance scheme which is launched exclusively for MR, CP and

Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance (CMCHI) scheme which is launched exclusively for children with Autism.

The parents of 40 IC children need not worry about the expenses of medical attention.

The 40 IC children will get aids and appliances at no cost.

The 40 IC children will learn all life skills at free of cost.

The parents need not employ persons to assist their children.

Eligible children will be mainstreamed after the training and Therapy services.

All the children will avail the NIRAMAYA scheme to reduce their medical expenses.

Eligible children will be enrolled under the Autism Multimodal Therapy Scheme.

The IC children living in remote and isolated areas are covered, and assets such as a van, TLM materials and equipment can be utilized for long term.

Environmental impact:

There will be no negative economic environmental impact on our project because there is no pollution of air and water. But socio-environment will become conducive for the betterment of our target people.
