Humane Society for Strays

The welfare of stray animals in and around Bandra.

• Feeding of approximately 300 dogs and cats on the streets twice a week
• Sterilisation of street dogs and cats in Bandra, Khar and Santacruz 
• Anti-rabies vaccinations annually 
• 7x1 Vaccination for all the dogs 
• Treatment of maggot wounds, mange and skin problems on site 
• Regular deworming of the strays and application of anti-tick and anti-flea medicines on strays 
• Having street cats and dogs treated by private vets as and when required
• Admitting severely sick or injured animals to hospitals and paying for their recovery
•  Payments to animal foster homes for sheltering abandoned animals, until when, and if they can be rehabilitated 
• Handling animal abuse cases with police complaints and FIRs
• Spearheading petitions to the BMC chief to open more sterilisation centres and to bring a cat
• Putting water bowls on the streets in summer and cleaning and replenishing the same daily
• Helping poor animal lovers and shelters, with the sterilisation and welfare of their street animals

We hope to reduce the number of stray cats and dogs on our streets, humanely, by neutering them.

Also, through regular vaccination rounds, we hope to reduce the incidence of rabies, distemper and other canine diseases.

And most importantly, we want to give the strays a life free of hunger and pain. And to build a bond of trust between humans and animals, as we all have to co-exist on planet Earth.
