Story

Asha Bhavan Centre (ABC) is an NGO providing rehabilitation services, opportunities and protecting the rights for the Children, Women, and Persons with Disabilities, in West Bengal, since 1999.

10 disabled children and young adults, as part of the Community Based Rehabilitation project, need your help to meet their needs and address their urgent health issues.

These children have serious health conditions : 7 of them are suffering from severe cerebral palsy : Anik, Ankush, Avik, Ayush, Farida, Mariya, Sk. Tamim. Diya is another child needing support : she is a distressed girl living without her parents’ support, along with her grandfather who is very poor. One other child has intellectual disability, Lipika, and another one, Sania, has got muscle dystrophy.

Anik and Avik are twins, and despite their cerebral palsy they are meritorious students. They need education support to go further in their studies, as well as therapy and appliances support to address their medical needs. Their father is a toto driver and doesn’t earn enough to help.

Ayush, Ankush, Mariya, Sk. Tamim and Lipika all come from very poor families and needs physiotherapy support urgently, along with special appliances for some of them. They need education and nutrition support also that their families can’t afford. They have cerebral palsy and other health problems too, to be addressed as soon as possible.

Diya is a distressed girl living without her parents’ support, along with her grandfather who is very poor. She is a meritorious student who needs education support. Sania is in the same situation, and needs medical support as well.

Sonia has muscle dystrophy. She is a meritorious student, she wants to take computer course also. For her physical development dance practice is essential, but her treatment is too expensive for her family so she is struggling to afford it. She needs education and medical support.

Farida has no parents. She is 34 years old and badly affected by cerebral palsy. She needs therapy and medical support, as she barely can move. She also needs to be provided daily life necessities (clothes, soap, etc).

They all have tremendous potential to do good in their life and achieve a lot in their studies. All they need is support to have access to the medical care they urgently need and the education that their families can’t afford. They need your help.

Your donations will help a lot to improve the children's situation because :

· Education support  includes helping the children by paying their admission fees, providing them with study materials and taking charge of their tuition fees.

· Nutrition support comprises providing packages of 6 kg of rive, 3 kg of gram, 1.5 kg of round nuts, 1 kg of sugar candy, and 1 kg of proteinex. These packages are to be provided twice a year.

· Medical support includes paying the medical bills and medicines prescriptions of the children.
