Improvement of Health and Education of Adolescents with HIV and disability.

Children suffering from HIV and physical disabilities live a life replete with difficulties.

Their parents are poor and most of them are daily wagers and they have trouble managing their children within their small income. Many of these children are orphans with nobody to take care of them. AwDs and ALHIVs need constant health monitoring which their poverty does not allow them to have.

CPE has the following adolescents in their follow up for their development:-

20 ALHIVs, 122 AAHIVs, 465 adolescents from Dalit families, 229 adolescents with disabilities, 15 adolescents from broken families, 65 orphan adolescents, and 4 adolescents with other difficulties. The adolescents who are in the follow up of CPE are struggling to face the challenges of day to day life and lack guidance for their development.

Centre for People's Education is providing AwDs and ALHIVs with various kinds of support, some of which being the following:-

1. Nutrition support to the ALHIVs and AwDs

2. Education Support to ALHIVs , AwDs and orphan / semi orphan adolescents

3. Home based counselling to the adolescents

4. Emergency medical care fund

5. Annual awareness programmes

Since these children belong to poor backgrounds, with support from Centre for People's Education and its donors, these children will be able to Lead better lives because of the nutritious food, consistent medical attention and education they shall be provided with.

These children will be able to pursue their dreams and live their lives with dignity.

Because of the awareness programmes, people will become aware and the stigma will begin to grow faint with time.
