Invest in Continued Education of Deprived Girls

Education is a fundamental human right and there should be no space for gender discrimination in the education system. Unfortunately, girls' education especially in the backward region of Mewat in Rajasthan, has always been prone to this discrimination.

In general, after grade 8th, the girls start dropping out due to distance to schools, safety concerns of parents and conservative mindsets. While Ibtada has prepared enough ground to motivate parents and change their conservative mindsets, distance to school/college and inability to bear expenses remains a hurdle.

• Transport facility for school and college going girls: The girls drop out of higher education (schools and college) due to distance. While our social mobilisation efforts motivate the parents for sending girls to schools, but there are logistics issues – how do they reach the schools/college from their villages. Even while parents are willing to send their daughters to schools/colleges, the face the issue of safety of girls and also the facility.

We have started transport facility for girls to take them to schools/colleges.

• College fee for girls: The parents are often unable to bear cost of higher education of girls. Therefore, cost of college fee need to be supported. The donations will be raised for paying the college fee of girls. 

This will ensure continued education of girls beyond class 8th. First generation female learners will be the first to reach college level. This will delay their age of marriage, boost their self confidence and develop aspirations to use their education for a career. Targeted villages will see a mindset change in the community where more and more girls start pursuing higher education.
