Most of Pramod’s friends have left their small village in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh and moved to cities to work as daily-wage labourers, a life common for young men here. Pramod too got an opportunity to travel to cities but not as a labourer– As the captain of the Under-17 team of one of India’s most celebrated football clubs–Mohun Bagan.
If Priya and Digvijay, founders of Mrida Education and Welfare Society are to be believed, the next generation of football stars that India needs might as well come from villages and tribal communities. The NGO has been able to develop excellent footballing talent from tribal communities and has made a name for itself on the National stage. The NGO founders say, "If we are to play in a football world cup we need to invest in players coming from the grassroots”.

From adversity to triumph
“When children come to us for the first time, at least 80 to 90 per cent of children are anaemic and that too severely anaemic. Second is that they are malnourished, they have stunted growth and they are underweight” Informs Digvijay. But despite the financial background of these children, they are today proving their mettle against the best in the country, thanks to the NGO.
“Despite this, our girls are state champions. We've played the nationals. In terms of the boys, one of our players recently played for Mohun Bagan under-17. He was the captain of the team,” he further adds.
Journey of a dream to reality
Digvijay and Priya dream of taking football to small villages and ultimately transforming lives through sport. Your donation can make this dream a possibility
“We have been working here for so many years but with very few facilities, infrastructure-wise. The football field that we practise on is farmland and that is rented. On a ground like this, our footballs don't last. We need 30 to 40 footballs each month. These are the requirements that we have. Children need boots too. If we can get the support, we need, we can take football to greater heights”, believes Priya.
“If we get the facilities and the infrastructure that a proper club has, it will not take us much time to scale our impact to 10x to 20x. Please support us,” add Digvijay.

India can win the football World Cup!!
But it won't come easy. That's where we come in. We support the national football program at a grassroots level to secure glory for the country and support the educational, technical, and physical development of hundreds of our beneficiaries.
Simply Sport Foundation does more than train kids in the art of football. We are responsible for the overall development of hundreds of kids in Madhya Pradesh by running a residential school where we provide quality nutrition to our kids and organize their participation in tournaments where they can show off their skills.
Football is more than a sport for the children of Mohgaon, Madhya Pradesh. Consider the story of young Namrata (name changed). She has an unmatched passion for the game and despite the personal tragedy of her father's paralysis, possesses the resiliency to keep playing the sport she loves. Having recently earned her license in football coaching, she has also secured an extraordinary 86% in her 12th standard board exams. She is now playing football, coaching football, studying in college, and preparing for the state civil exam.
Through football, the dreams and aspirations of countless youths can be realized. The discipline and work ethic imbibed in our beneficiaries are sure to serve them all their lives.
But we cannot do this alone! Your help is urgently needed to extend our reach and support our students by improving their infrastructure and training quality. It is here that we may find India's next superstar and give the youth of our country a chance to escape poverty and live better lives
