Story

The main issues at hand are:

-The community and their own family members look at the differently-abled with the perception of them being helpless human beings. This attitude neglects the opportunity of social inclusion.

- The differently abled are not brought up in their families like other children with equal rights of love, affection, care and protection, friends and entertainment etc.

- They are conditioned to be isolated because of social customs and value systems. The community people are those who themselves predefines their life.

- MR childrens' parents are not able to maintain their MR child's health, education and nutrition

We are running Jeevan Day Care for CP/MR children in our office complex for the following purpose.

- Awareness creation is the major task and this shall be executed by the Cultural Team and hosting awareness cum need identification camps every month in the area of operation.

- Educating school children towards the issues of disabled will also be done.

- Early detection camps shall be organized in the schools and for the new born babies with the help of the Primary Health Centre and Rehabilitation personnel every month.

- Networking with the necessary Government functionaries department shall be done as and when required right from the initiation of the project so that it shall lead to better independence among the disabled and the organization so as to achieve better service facilities during the phasing out period.

- MR children would be encourage to attend the center everyday

Our initiative will lead to

- A discernible change in attitude in the self with reference to self, family will be seen.

- The PWDs(Mentally retarded/cerebral policy) potentials skills shall be identified and they shall be trained with local artisans, given outside training, and be abled to produce a commodity for their livelihood.

- The PWDs and their parents would understand the concept and methodology of rehabilitation.

- The PWDs would attain managerial skills to run the SHGs on their own.

- The families would have increased their skills in managing their disabled child at home.

- Enrollment of trained mild and moderate children of school going age into nearby primary schools during the academic year.
