“I also come from a migrant family and have seen the struggles of poverty up close,” says Bhagwan Keshbhat, founder of Waatavaran. Driven by his personal experience, Bhagwan has been fighting against the exploitation and landlessness of tribal communities since 2018.

For generations, countless tribal families have endured slave-like conditions—forced to work 17 to 18 hours a day, all year round, for as little as ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 annually.
