Story

"Those with intellectual disabilities deserve to be able to live a life of dignity and of their choosing, all they need is a little support and compassion," says Dr. Sushama Nagarkar, founder of Yash Charitable Trust, who knows firsthand the challenges faced by individuals with intellectual disabilities.

When Dr. Sushama’s daughter was diagnosed with autism, she saw the struggles of neurodivergent adults up close. This experience fueled her passion to create a nurturing and inclusive world for individuals with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, and other conditions.

Today her NGO is giving a new sense of purpose and hope to countless adults with disabilities and their families. But she can not do this alone and needs your support. Donate to this crucial mission now.

How it started

In 2014, she established Yash Charitable Trust to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, giving them the tools to live with dignity and self-respect.

"Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are able to live and work in the community of their choice with dignity and self-respect."

This vision came to life through Café Arpan, a warm and welcoming space run entirely by adults with intellectual disabilities. At Café Arpan, they are not just employees; they are chefs, servers, and managers, building skills and confidence while breaking stereotypes.

Transforming Lives, One Step at a Time

Yash Charitable Trust stands for hope and transformation of neurodivergent adults, once sidelined by society. They are now thriving with newfound purpose and independence.

However, sustaining this change requires support.

Your donation will help:

  • Train more individuals with intellectual disabilities in critical life and employment skills.
  • Expand Café Arpan to provide more opportunities and inclusive workspaces.
  • Offer ongoing mentorship and support for trainees to ensure long-term success.

Together, We Can Create a More Inclusive World

“Kindly help us support and empower these individuals,” Dr. Sushama urges.

Your generosity can give someone the opportunity to live and work with dignity, proving that every life, no matter the challenges, holds immense potential.

Donate to this fundraiser by give.do, India’s largest and most trusted online giving platform, to support Yash Charitable Trust in providing persons with intellectual and development disabilities training and jobs.
