Aarudhra Women’s Welfare Foundation is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to promoting menstrual health, gender equity, and the safety and empowerment of women and girls in India. Founded by Mr. Vignesh Raja, a law student and social reformer, the foundation works at the grassroots level to challenge silence, stigma, and social injustice.
Our flagship initiative, Project Shuchi, aims to provide comprehensive menstrual health education, promote access to sanitary products, and break long-standing taboos in both rural and urban communities. Through pad distribution drives, school workshops, and awareness campaigns, we are building a period-positive ecosystem where every girl can thrive with dignity and confidence.
Beyond menstrual health, Aarudhra is equally committed to addressing gender-based violence. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) 2022, India reports an average of 86 rape cases every day — that’s one every 3.5 hours. Despite legislative reforms and stronger enforcement, such crimes persist at alarming rates.
We believe that legal action must be accompanied by grassroots social transformation. Aarudhra works to educate communities on consent, respect, and gender sensitivity — empowering individuals with the knowledge and values needed to prevent violence before it begins.
The urgency of our mission is reflected in disturbing real-world incidents:
Thane (2025): 125 schoolgirls were stripped for menstruation checks.
Bhuj, Gujarat (2020): 68 hostel girls were forced to undress to prove they were not menstruating.
Tamil Nadu (2020): A schoolgirl died by suicide after being publicly shamed for a period stain.
Arunachal Pradesh (2023): Girls were isolated during menstruation and denied basic dignity.
Kerala (2021): A PIL demanded menstrual leave and free sanitary products in schools.
Through Project Shuchi and broader community campaigns, Aarudhra works to dismantle period stigma, challenge gender-based violence, and ensure basic rights for women and girls.
Rooted in the values of social justice and inspired by the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Aarudhra Women’s Welfare Foundation envisions an India where menstruation is not a curse, safety is not a privilege, and dignity is a right for every woman and girl.
