Join Hands to Save Hands assist injured migrant workers

"20 workers lose their hands or fingers every day", just in Gurgaon’s manufacturing sector.  

Most of them are from among the country’s most vulnerable that we saw on the roads during Covid19 lockdown:

• 90% migrants of the kind we saw on the roads walking home during Covid19
• 65% informally employed
• 50% under 30 years

Several thousand workers suffer the same fate nationally every year. If we could help these workers after their injuries and prevent these accidents from happening, we would not only help lakhs of Indian migrant workers, but also help improve India's labour productivity, currently one of the lowest (135th) in the world.

1. To assist thousands of injured workers to improve their post-accident life with mainly healthcare and compensations. (Already assisted 3200+ injured workers and helped obtained Rs 23+ crore value of compensations.
2. To promote safer working conditions in the Indian manufacturing sector, which will also improve India's labour-productivity, one of the lowest in the world (rank 135). Our specific focus is on the auto-sector (90% of workers assisted by us) which employs 3 crore workers.
3. To help improve Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)’s healthcare and compensation processes for 14 crore (workers and their families) that depend on it.
4. Increase awareness among workers of safer working practices and ESIC benefits and among public of these issues faced by especially migrant workers.

In 2020, we also distributed 450,000+ adult food rations, 25,000+ masks and helped 250+ migrants get to their homes.

In 2021, wave two we have supplied more than 85 oxygen cylinders to ESIC hospitals

Our supporters from IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Roorkee will match-fund your donations, doubling the impact of your money:

1. Every 10,000 Rupee donation helps us fund operations to assist 20 workers with their healthcare and/or with Rs100,000 value of compensation for an injured worker.
2. We engage with the government and the auto-sector to improve safety in their supply chain. We aim to train 1,000+ workers in safety in FY21-22 and start a number of projects with the industry and the government.
3. We engage with ESIC to improve their services to workers and their families eg. ESIC has already issued more than 10 national notifications based on our recommendations. We aim to help improve ESIC processes to enable disbursement of Rs100+ crore under the Covid19 unemployment scheme.
4. Already, 10,000+ workers made aware of their ESIC healthcare and safety entitlements. We aim to increase this to 20,000+ in 2021.
