Campaign by Sabuj Sangha
In 2012, Sabuj Sangha initiated mobile health clinics in Kolkata and Bidhan Nagar to serve slum areas, continuing this community-based approach. A recent study in these areas highlighted concerning levels of malnutrition and anemia among women, adolescent girls, and children. Among the sampled population, significant numbers of women were found to be undernourished, with many adolescents exhibiting low hemoglobin levels. Recognizing these gaps in healthcare access, Sabuj Sangha launched the Niramoy project, which focused on improving health outcomes in urban slums through accessible and affordable healthcare services. Currently operating across six wards, Niramoy establishes healthcare centers with essential facilities and qualified staff, prioritizing primary care, preventive initiatives, and community engagement to empower individuals and address preventable diseases, ultimately striving to build a healthier and resilient urban community with equitable healthcare for all.
