Imagine the plight of an ambitious young woman whose dreams have been crushed and whose life has been turned into a living hell owing to constant abuse and violence. This is the reality for many women across the country, the perpetrators often being their husbands. Our partners Sayodya and a select few other NGOs have been a ray of hope for thousands of women survivors of domestic abuse by giving them safe shelter, medical care, and livelihood opportunities.
These NGOs need all the help they can get, not only to end the abuse and rescue victims of domestic abuse but also to help them rebuild their lives. Your contribution can make a huge difference in their lives. Donate now.

The shackles of domestic abuse
Even while women continue to face violence and abuse at home, the extent of their trauma is such that they are unable to escape their reality. Their own homes become their prison.
“Domestic violence is a big problem in the world. However, it is a very silent problem; not many speak about it. It is said that 30% of women in the age group of 18 to 35 face domestic violence but hardly 14% report it. That means people suffer in silence and they don’t even ask for help, says, Mrudula Vemulapati, the founder of the nonprofit organisation. “Even if they muster the courage to free themselves from abuse there are hardly any institutions that can provide them the help and support they need,” she further adds.
Donate now to give survivors of domestic abuse a fresh start in life.
How Sayodhya is turning the tide
“Whenever abuse or atrocities are reported, our women are the first in the field. They immediately reach out to the needy and also actively work with the local police. We have started a free legal aid clinic apart from providing psychosocial counselling and health care. Sayodya works for the larger cause of the eradication of gender-based discrimination and domestic violence. In the last 10 years, we have reached nearly 3,500 women. We have also impacted more than 10,000 families”, says the NGO’s founder.
Sayodhya needs your help
When Sayodhya rescues women from abuse or when victims manage to escape an abusive household, they often walk out empty-handed. “Most of the women who come to Sayodhya are uneducated and do not have the confidence to survive on their own. Sayodhya not only provides them safe shelter and urgent medical care, but also makes sure that survivors can develop skills to be able to have meaningful livelihoods. All of this comes at a cost,” Mrudula says.
Your donation can free hundreds of women from the shackles of domestic abuse and give them a chance to rebuild their lives. Donate now.
