- It can't be said enough -old age is difficult to deal with. Where one's physical abilities start to see shortcomings, the emotional state too can become frail due to loneliness. Despite this, the elderly in India continue to be neglected. According to this report, there are around 100 million people in India and the number is going to triple by 2050. Nearly 65% of the elderly population in India claimed to have felt neglected and abused, according to a study, the numbers are higher in urban areas as compared to rural areas.
- We are committed to changing the way people treat ageing in India. We enable aged people to lead active lives through easy access to trusted information, opportunities for productive ageing, and health care support services.
- The organization is functioning with multiple programs dedicated to the well-being of the aged population in Telangana State. All the services of Joy Foundation are elderly centric and it is striving to bring back smiles on the faces of underprivileged and most deserved people.
- Joy Foundation is a comprehensive home for aged persons who are orphaned by their children or relatives and belong to economically very poor. The home offers a wide- range of facilities that include shelter, food, health care access (round the clock), psychological counselling, Yoga, and other living amenities for most desperate needy aged persons. The idea behind establishing Joy House is to enable an open environment through access to living facilities with pride and dignity.
- Access to health care for older people is still a nightmare for several parts of the country. Psychosocial impact, depression, malnutrition, and loneliness are the usual symptoms that we find among old-age persons. In order to provide basic health care and mental health to elderly people, Joy Foundation has initiated a weekly clinic facility free of cost at Mahaboobnagar (Padkal Village) District in Telangana state. The people from Padkal and surrounding villages get the benefit of medical consultation and medicines for their infections.
- This program aims to save the old-age victims of road accidents left unattended and waiting for medical assistance desperately. The honourable Founder President of Joy Foundation holds 2 private hospitals on the National Highway number 9 (a stretch of BHEL X Roads to Sangareddy) where the accidental sufferers are facilitated. Rescue services are delivered by his team round the clock and treatment facility extended free of cost to the elderly needy. In some cases, patients are referred by nearby police stations and volunteers.
- This program is exclusively dedicated to aged people who are unable to access basic health care and minimum required food in the suburbs of Hyderabad city. We have launched this program in the year of 2009 at a suburban location called Patancheru on the national highway of Mumbai. Since then it’s been continuing to help the aged for their well-being and welfare.
- To create an enlightened society in which the elderly feel secure, confident and valued, and can live with hope and dignity.
- This program aims to enable health care services and food provisions to old-age people in the communities. The team of specialized doctors joins in health camps to ensure proper health check-ups and quality treatment for the ailments that they suffer from. Basic medicines are given to required patients. The supplementary nutrition (protein powder tins) and multivitamin tonics are given to those who are in malnutrition conditions. Provisions packets containing rice, dal, wheat flour, and cooking oil, etc are given to most needy those who cannot afford their daily intake. Seasonal requirements such as blankets, umbrellas, spectacles, etc are given as per the materials available in the organization.
- Typically, the average stay of accidental victims will be from one week to 10 days. During this period all the necessary medical procedures are done by our specialized doctors along with required lab investigations. Relatives of the victims will be informed to be escorted to hospitals during the treatment period. All the expenses of the victims including treatment, food, stay and medical investigations will be taken care of by Joy Foundation.
- The model of the weekly clinic is a day-running health care facility for all needy aged people in this district. A team of doctors and helpers along with Dr Raj Kumar visit this location every Saturday to serve the needy from 8 am to 5 pm. The basic check-up is done by the doctors and medicines are given to required patients free of cost. The speciality of doctors visits once a month to provide thorough medical facilities such as eye testing, dental and diabetes, etc.
- All elders, prior to admission, go through a comprehensive medical check-up done free of cost by Dr Raj Kumar and the team (Sai Ganesh Hospital, Patancheru Hyderabad). Post admission their health is taken care of by qualified physicians, physiotherapists & nurses, psychiatrists, homoeopathy / ayurvedic doctors, acupuncturists,s, and dental / eye care specialists. All these services are provided free of cost to eligible beneficiaries.
- As our inmates have no living children last rites are also performed by Joy Foundation in collaboration with a like-minded organization. We get consent for this and for the donation of the eyes and other body organs as well.
