Livelihood and nutritional support program for rural women:

Due to COVID 19 pandemic there was a phase-wise lockdown across the country leading to large-scale social, economic and political instability. A large number of migrant workers returned to their villages. With the closure of schools and Anganwadi centers, the challenges of children's health and education had further increased. All these challenges hampered our work in all the project areas. The Government delayed its response due to its political compulsions in taking a decision on return of migrant workers to their homes. This led to spread and unplanned responses resulting in huge crisis to the poor and the vulnerable, lower caste-class population, widows, daily wage earners and migrants.

 Since then, the livelihood issues have been critical for these communities as they have consumed the food with them as well as exhausted the assets available with them. The farming communities have been the most badly affected section which has resulted in nutritional deficiency of women and girls in the farming communities as they continue to serve better and adequate food to men and male child in the patriarch society as of rural Bihar.  

Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti is organisation a dally long sensitization program for women of farming communities and Scheduled caste to orient them on cash crop and vegetable cultivation for nutritional supplements as well as to generate additional income in small plots and kitchen garden with seasonal vegetable with local demand as, lady figure, potato and Onion cultivations, Pumpkins and bitter guard a few to name . These women are also being provided with high quality tested seeds and macro – micro nutrients to promote quality cultivation. As these produces have good demand locally and are also fetched by big vegetable vendors they are easily marketed in the locality. Same part of the produce is also being utilized for household consumption. these interventions are well taken by the community and there is a huge demand for the same in this crisis situation. 

With the livelihood promotion program, 500 homeless marginalized families will be self-employed and self-reliant with self-employment by operating a shop locally.
