Magnum Smiles

Rotary club of Madras Magnum believes in championing communities towards creating humane and sustainable society. With the ‘Shiksha & Suraksha’ program we build necessary infrastructure (toilets, kitchen, Etc.) in government schools, creating an equitable learning environment for the underprivileged and making lasting impact.

Under the MagnumSmile umbrella, we would execute various other charitable programs that would make our Mother Earth and all its children happy - one day at a time. MagnumSmile will create an achieving following twin goals:

Goal 1: Bringing smiles to underprivileged people or those largely neglected by society such as orphans or destitute. We would-

o Organize mini-carnivals, music events, magic shows, mini-carnivals etc. at orphanages, old-age homes, children shelter etc.

o Setup workshops at govt. schools to spread awareness on health, hygiene and safety

o Distribute food, water, cloth or other relief materials to the needy and weaker sections of the society.

o Setup medical camps to promote better health

o Celebrate festivals to spread joy

o Create employment opportunities by organizing vocational training and donating materials (sewing machines, photocopiers, etc.)

o and so on

Goal 2: Making our Mother Earth and its muted creatures happy. We would organize-

o  Tree planting drives.

o  Workshops on important aspects of sustainable living - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

o  Animal welfare projects, providing essentials for animal shelters and rescue centres.

o  and so on

Bringing Smiles @ Daya Sadan home, Ayanavaram by Rotary Club of Madras Magnum (RCMM) - July 16, 2022

Rotary Club of Madras Magnum (RCMM) organized a Musical program followed by a wholesome dinner for residents of Daya Sadan home, Ayanavaram on July 16,2022. Daya Sadan established in 1959, currently houses 110 old residents who have been abandoned by their friends and family. These folks are from different vernacular backgrounds with many having lost their memory and mental strength. While few kind hearted individuals donate for food by contributing money but there is not much done to rejuvenate their dying minds.

RCMM decided to be changemakers here and worked with management of Daya Sadan to organize first ever musical program under the #magnumSmilesProject. Professional singers Mr. Pramod and Mr. Velu brought smiles on forgotten faces, sparkle in their old eyes as they clapped and danced to popular Tamil, Telugu & Hindi numbers. Joy and happiness reverberated across the home, bringing life to otherwise gloomy day overcasted by sorrow and rain clouds. Members then served wholesome hot food, fresh fruit and sweets to the residents as it drizzled outside to bringing the joyous day to end.

Spreading happiness & smiles on Gandhi Jayanti! - Oct 2, 2022

Rotary Madras Magnum distributed backpack, water-bottle, colouring book, stationery sets, chocolates, chips to the 70 lesser privileged children of Government Home for Boys, Royapuram. This was followed by scrumptious lunch and some fun games and activities for the children.

Our next project is planned on March 25th, 2023. Where we are organising Annual Sports Day for children affected by Cerebral Palsy (CP) - A congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone or posture.

For sports day we are planning to invite 30+ children suffering from CP, their parents and any siblings for the event (around 100 ppl). Raising funds to conduct games, lunch, gifts for children.
