The project aims at reducing avoidable blindness in India by supporting one lakh cataract surgeries. CBM India Trust works with 27 hospital partners across India. Your support will reach the elderly and children who are affected with cataract.

As prevalence of blindness is more in rural population and among illiterate, CBM India Trust has chosen to work in hard to reach areas. The goal will be achieved by:

For the last 56 years, we have been working tirelessly in over 25 states to reduce and prevent avoidable blindness in India. That includes everything from dispensing spectacles for refractive errors to enabling cataract surgeries.

We are passionate about our mission but need more resources. We need people like you to help us change many more lives.

The Ground Reality

Approximately 4.8 million Indians are blind, and 34 million have some form of visual impairment.

What is the leading cause of blindness in India? Cataracts! Another important reason is easily corrected refractive error.

There is a pressing need for better access to quality eye care locally, especially in rural locations.

Our vision centres provide access to quality eye care for simple conditions and referral to appropriate services like surgery when needed.
