Man Kaur : 103 and still running!

In an age when women still believe they are born only to raise children and take care of homes, Sardarni Man Kaur, a housewife, from Chandigarh, at the age of 93 years considered getting trained in running after her son forced her. She began running competitively and represented India in a number of championships winning medals in her age group. At 103 she is all geared to participate in yet another competition, a World Masters Championship, in her age group in Poland. To compete in such championships training and proper gear is inevitable. Cost of training for such international championships stands anywhere between 1 - 2 lakh for a month, Running gear costs upto 50 thousand. Flight tickets to Poland, a travel Visa, local travel expense, local accommodation, and food will cost around 4 lakhs for her and her trainer. The funds raised will help her compete in this championship and other championships in the future.

Her pure will and enthusiasm to run not just for for fun but to compete, qualified her to be an official mascot of Pinkathon since the past two years. Pinkathon is proud to support her as well as her future endeavours in running and so is undertaking a fundraiser to help her break her own world record in the 100 mts sprint in the 100+ age group.

If we achieve our fundraising goal, she will be able to train herself, get the right running gear, as well as manage her international travel expense for the world masters. However, it will not stop at this. She will be a big motivation and an idol for women across ages to move out of their homes and make it big in their own way. She is a true example of – “Age Does Not Matter!”
