Masti Ki Paathshaala Funwala - Summer School Programme

April used to be a month full of excitement- new books, new sessions, new socks! But for two years in a row now, millions of children in India have not experienced that joy.

The pandemic has kept children at home, away from friends, fun, and for those without digital access, away from learning.  

The struggling public education system is unable to reach students or support them, leaving kids highly vulnerable to compounded learning loss, drop out and deep emotional distress as they struggle to understand the crisis and its impact on their future.

Last year, we created a blended model (digital & in-person) to support schools with digital teaching & learning, training, professional development, and post-COVID school governance and management.

This year we are rolling this out across geographies through State governments of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, partner schools in West Bengal, and technology partner DIKSHA via our community-based organisations to help students at home to continue learning while helping them cope with the pandemic. 

We have curated a compact activity-based 20-hour Masti ki Paathshaala programme which will support students between the ages of 10-16 years on foundational academic competencies, complemented by activities that build socio-emotional resilience.

This programme is being made available to grassroots organisations free-of-cost with Transform providing resources and technical support. While the programme is digital-first for easy deployment, we have created printed resources called Masti ki Playbook to complement digital lessons, and for those with minimal or no digital access.

We are looking for support to cover the cost of developing the resources, as well as cover the printing of Masti ki Playbooks for communities struggling with digital access. We believe that CBOs deserve to be supported financially for their tireless efforts, so we are also looking for funding to support them.

Masti ki Paathshaala aims to engage 1 million students in scholastic and co-scholastic activities, taking the learning and excitement of a summer school to their homes! Even as schools remain shut and peer contact limited, they will be able to participate in experiential learning, prevent learning losses, and build socio-emotional resilience to face the grief and loss during the pandemic.

The programme will act as a platform for continuous interactions, and ensure continuity such that students are able and willing to return to school digitally or in-person, once they do reopen.

All of the funds will go into actuals only. Transform will not take any management cost. In case we overshoot our ask, we will divert funds to print more Playbooks for the students.
