Blindness continues to be one of the major public health problems in our country. Cataract and corneal diseases are major causes of blindness in countries with less-developed economies. According to the WHO, corneal diseases are among the major causes of vision loss and blindness in the world today, after cataract and glaucoma. In India, it is estimated that there are approximately 6.8 million people who have vision less than 6/60 in at least one eye due to corneal diseases; of these, about a million have bilateral involvement. It is expected that the number of individuals with unilateral corneal blindness in India will increase to 10.6 million by 2020.

We are creating awareness amongst the masses and trying to make eye donation a family tradition. Along with awareness, we are also establishing a series of eye banks and transplantation centers where no eye donation or transplantation facility is presently available. These eye banks will provide round-the-clock eye donation facility which will ensure increase in the number of eye donations. Our Mobile Eye Care Units are reaching rural and remote areas for providing eye care facility.

Now, we're planning to launch Deesha Netralaya, a charitable eye hospital which will provide complete eye care at affordable cost.

• Access to quality eye care: People need to visit district place as eye care facilities are rarely available in rural areas which not only cost money but also, they lose their daily wages. Also, patient need someone to accompany, someone from the family, resulting in the loss of daily wages of two people. Because of this they kept postponing or opt not to go for eye checkup. Due to easy access of eye care at their door step, more people will go for eye checkup without losing their wages.

• Independency: People wouldn’t require company due to proximity of mobile eye care unit in village.

• Low iteration: Through individual counselling we can convince cataract patients for surgery. We can monitor them and take feedback which will result in low surgery iteration rate.

• Touching more lives: Door services will convince people for regular eye check-up.
