Children in institutions come from broken families and violent communities who have experienced abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Entering the institution itself is a traumatic experience for a child. Most children have a self-harming tendency and anger issues and suffer from depression and other mental health conditions. Fear, loss of dignity and violence, separation from parents, loss of hope and control over one’s life, skewed power dynamics of an institution, and social isolation are consistent factors that affect the children in these institutions. 

Through individual and group counselling with children and their families, we are able to change their inner voice, seed hope, and enable them to move towards a more positive future for themselves. 

Program: Healing and Understanding Life through Theatre & Music 

Description: Art and music have the power to heal and transform pain into creativity. By combining socio-emotional skills with art, music and theatre, we provide a holistic program for the children to become self-aware, learn to express themselves and reflect on life and choices while learning to act, paint, write, sing and compose songs.
